Moving is stressful in and of itself.
There’s a lot to consider, and most of it involves how
to get your stuff from point A to point B. Many people who
are preparing for a move opt to work with a professional moving
company to make the transportation of their belongings a lot
easier. Working with a moving company certainly does take
away a lot of the stress of a move. However, in most cases,
packing will still be your responsibility. Particularly if
you have high end furniture that you own, there are a number
of steps you should take to prepare before your moving company
arrives on the big day.
High end furniture, antiques, and custom furniture pieces
are by and large one of a kind. If something were to happen
to your custom-made dresser, your one of a kind 18th century
bed frame, or your expensive credenza, you’ll obviously
be greatly disappointed. Although your movers will be trained
in how to move high end furniture pieces, you still need to
prepare.
The first step in preparing for your move is that you should
be insured. If your items are really one of a kind and if
anything happening to any of them would truly cause you turmoil,
there’s no reason not to get insurance. Although your
movers may have insurance, base insurance policies held by
moving companies will likely not cover the full value of your
high end items. Therefore, it’s in your best interest
to seek out private full coverage for the items that you are
most concerned about.
Of course, the next step in preparing for your move is making
sure that everything is wrapped and packed properly. This
means procuring bubble wrap, special containers, boxes, moving
pads, and anything else that will work to specifically protect
your items. Anything that is glass or otherwise fragile needs
to be handled with great care in order to create the best
success for its safe delivery.
If you have extremely fragile items and you aren’t sure
how to pack them properly, it’s really best to hire
a moving company that offers specific services that cater
to the handling of highly sensitive items. Items such as fine
art, high end or custom furniture, and musical instruments
are extremely specialized items. The best case scenario would
be to find a company that specifically trains personnel to
handle such items. Just because someone knows how to move
art doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going
to know how to move your harp. Ask what the professionals
you’re considering working with are specifically trained
in and what types of moves they’ve handled in the past.
If you need a piano mover, find a piano mover.
Ultimately, it’s just really important that you go out
of your way to prepare in the most intensive way possible
so that your move can be stress free and so that you can rest
easy that your items are going to make it make it to your
new home safe and sound. |
