The Scanio Story

Scanio Movers was founded in 1941 by Frank Scanio, in an era when a moving company's reputation was built one handshake and one carefully carried piece of furniture at a time. From the start, Scanio earned its name the way the best companies do, through honest work, dependable service, and treating every customer's belongings as if they were its own. For more than eight decades, that reputation has endured.

In 1999, Nir Shuminer purchased Scanio Movers, taking the helm of a company with a proud history and a name that already meant something in the moving business. Rather than start something new, Nir chose to become the steward of an established legacy. He preserved the values that had carried Scanio through the decades while bringing fresh energy, modern systems, and a vision for growth. Under his leadership, Scanio expanded its capabilities and its reach, building the foundation of the company customers rely on today.

In 2015, Nir's son, Idan Shuminer, joined the business, and what had been one man's stewardship became a true family enterprise. Together, the father and son duo run Scanio Movers as a hands-on team. Nir brings decades of experience and hard-earned instinct, while Idan brings a forward-looking approach to technology, logistics, and customer service. It's a partnership that blends the wisdom of experience with the drive to keep improving.

That same sense of family extends to our entire team. Many of our people, from the crews who pack and deliver, to the staff who coordinate every move in our operations office, to the team who care for your belongings in our warehouse, have been with Scanio for decades. That kind of loyalty is rare in this industry, and it makes all the difference. It means the people handling your move at every stage are not temporary hires learning on the job. Today, Scanio Movers handles far more than local moves.
